Green Cat and Ham

The cat runs back

The cat runs forth

Three leaps South

Five more North

And in the box

and on the bed

through the kitchen

and on my head

He runs and jumps

he purrs and spins

and goes and goes

until he wins.

But what the prize

the goal?

 the aim?

What wins he of this crazy game?!

The dangling handle of the blinds?

the house plant, pen cap, oh what finds!

If it glitters, moves or squeks,

he'll play his little hide and seek.

But human friends cannot collect

but half the energy of this pet.

Though adoring furry company we keep

I only wish he'd let us sleep!
